Hose

  • Urethane covered fibre reinforced hose is recognised as being the most effective type of hose for sewer jetting applications. This is due to its light weight allowing the nozzle to retrojet up the pipe with the minimum of resistance. Where there is a lot of abrasion or the hose rollers cannot be used, a steelwire reinforced hose is recommended.
  • The standard length of hose is 121m with longer lengths available on request.

Instrumentation

All instrumentation and control valves are positioned at the rear of the machine to allow ease of operation by one operator.

Instrumentation and controls include:

  • High pressure water gauge
  • Oil pressure warning light
  • Battery condition light
  • Hour/rev meter
  • Stop/start switch and cut out
  • Engine speed control
  • Hose reel out/in lever
  • Reel speed control with infinite adjustment
  • 3 way change over valve for pressure to nozzle, manual by-pass of auxiliary take-off.
  • Manufactured fully to South African Road Ordinance Specifications, with chevron board and lights

Operation

The Ian Dickie & Co Jet Cleaner may be parked adjacent to the manhole or more conveniently, a reasonable distance away.
An upper manhole hose guide both directs and protects the hose as it enters the manhole. A second lower hose guide at the junction of manhole and sewer, performs the same function.
The hose, with its chosen nozzle or chain flail, is lowered directly into the sewer, thereafter moving itself upstream by means of the high velocity water retrojetting off the pipe wall. At the same time its central water jet (if fitted), sprays forwards, breaking up deposits in front of the hose.
When the hose is withdrawn, the rear water jets scour the sewer walls washing the debris down the line. Heavier material is drawn back to the manhole, where it is easily removed with a Venturi Jet Pump. This process is repeated until the pipe is cleaned to its original condition.
Once the hose has been reeled in, all that is required is a final spraying down of the manhole with a hand-held pressure gun. All in all - a highly efficient, time and labour -saving operation.
Ian Dickie & Co also offer truck mounted Gully Sucker and Jet Cleaner combinations.

Truck mounted jet cleaner / gully sucker

The Ian Dickie Gully Jet/Sucker is able to Jet the pipe clean, bringing the debris back to the manhole. The Gully Sucker then lifts (suction lefts of up to 15M) and stores the debris in the vacuum tank until full. On clearing the blockage the truck can then drive to the discharge site and deposit the load.
