The compact bitumen emulsion distributor has been designed, constructed and tested in South Africa specifically to meet African demands and conditions. It has been created mainly to fill the needs of contractors and municipalities whose requirements for road-surfacing equipment cannot justify the excessive cost of the large equipment available today. It is mobile, versatile and economical. It is simple to operate-even by inexperienced labour - and offers considerable cost-saving plus convenience by allowing contractors and municipalities the option of undertaking the smaller jobs by themselves. Bitumen emulsion is decantered into a purpose-built hatchway or pumped into the main tank, from either standard drums or roadside containers, through the suction pipe interconnected to the main pumping system. The tank incorporates a sump which has been specially designed to facilitate pump system cleaning on completion of each spraying operation. The specially designed heating coil is a minor miracle of energy/heating efficiency, bringing the bitumen emulsion to operating temperature in +/-20 minutes. There is a hand-held burner also supplied as standard equipment for quick and easy elimination of blockages. Conventional spraying is achieved through the rigid multi-nozzle spray bar while areas which are difficult to reach may be covered with the hand-held spray lance which is also supplied as standard equipment. The unit is mounted on a ruggedly-constructed, high-speed trailer which is equipped to comply with local Road Ordinance requirements.

• 50mm Gear type pump with built-in, bypass valve, pressure 0-350 kPa and variable capacity up to 360 L/P/M.
• 6 kW crank start diesel or 5.8 kW recoil start petrol engine.
• Mild steel welded emulsion tank with capacity between 1000 L - 3000 L with 150mm heating coil, temperature gauge, all control valves for refilling and shut-off, calibrated dip stick and manhole.
• 700,000/or one million BTU LP Gas burner for clearing stoppages and 40Kg bottle holding bracket. (No bottle supplied). Heating time +/-15-25 minutes.
• Recirculating 2m spraybar with 65 degree flat fan two way shut-off adjustable nozzles welded at 100mm centres, linked to central shut-off lever.
• Splash guard mounted between spray bar and trailer wheels preventing surplus bitumen splashing.
• Rear mounted operators platform ideally positioned for on the spot operational control.
• System incorporates relief valve enabling operator to set pressure to suit specific applications.
